Keep it fun, keep it in check

Sweepstakes casinos are free to play, but Gold Coin purchases are real money and play can still get out of hand. Here is how to stay in control, and where to get help if you need it.

Good habits

Five rules that work

1Decide before you start

Set a time and a spending limit before you open the app, not after.

2Play free first

The free coins are the whole point. If you are buying to chase a redemption, stop.

3Never chase a loss

Coins spent are gone. Buying more to win them back is how small losses become large ones.

4Take breaks

Every casino here offers a cool-off period or self-exclusion in the account settings.

5Talk to someone

If play is on your mind more than you would like, say so to a friend or call the helpline below.

Warning signs

When fun stops being fun

Spending more than you planned, more than once. Hiding purchases from people close to you. Playing to feel better rather than to have fun. Thinking about the next session when you should be doing something else. Borrowing to buy coins. Any one of these is a reason to pause; two or more is a reason to get help.

What the casinos offer

Purchase limits
Most casinos let you cap daily, weekly or monthly Gold Coin purchases in the account settings. Once set, the cap cannot be raised for at least 24 hours.
Cool-off periods
A short break of 24 hours to 30 days during which you cannot log in. Useful when a session has gone on too long.
Self-exclusion
A long-term block, usually six months or more, which the casino will not lift early. Email support to arrange it.
Under 18?
You cannot play at any casino on this site. If you are a parent, the casinos’ age checks are at the redemption stage, so look at device-level parental controls as well.
